Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Watford goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon on a permanent basis after his successful loan spell last season, Football Insider sources understands.
Romanian international goalkeeper Pantilimon spent the second half of last season on loan at Forest and impressed during his time at the City Ground.
The 31-year-old made 13 appearances in the Championship and helped keep four clean sheets as Forest managed to climb clear of trouble at the wrong end of the table.
Forest boss Aitor Karanka is keen to strengthen his goalkeeping options this summer ahead of next season and is hoping to persuade Pantilimon to return to the club in a permanent deal.
Watford are open to offers for Pantilimon with the former Manchester City shot-stopper well down the pecking order at Vicarage Road.
A number of other clubs at home and abroad are understood to be monitoring Pantilimon’s situation at Watford, but Forest are keen to tie up a deal for the 6ft 6in custodian to ward off any rival interest.
In other Nottingham Forest news, they are lining up a 22-year-old defender.
