Wow, what a game for Liverpool.
It’s unlikely that even the most ardent Liverpool fans could have dared to hope for a game that would see their side take a 3-0 lead by half-time.
Everyone had predicted goals but not all one way, but Liverpool tore Man City apart in the opening 45 minutes.
And it led to Gary Lineker taking time out from his job in the studio to send a hilarious tweet.
With the score at 3-0, he tweeted to say “Good heavens” and followed it up with a jokey “Pep’s getting sacked in the morning.”
Good heavens. 3-0 to Liverpool. City all over the place. Pep’s getting sacked in the morning.

Football Insider verdict:
The all-England Champions League quarter-final was the pick of the ties and it lived up to its billing as an all-action affair. Man City had actually started off well before Mohamed Salah – who else – scored Liverpool’s first goal. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain followed up with the second before Sadio Mane sent the Anfield faithful into overdrive. There’s still a way to go in the tie, but you wouldn’t want to be on Man City’s side now. Liverpool are more than capable of scoring an away goal at the Etihad in two weeks’ time and that would surely kill off the tie.
