Steven Gerrard has opened talks with Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke, according to a report.
The Daily Record claims that the new Rangers manager has held preliminary third-party talks and is hopeful that he can swing a loan deal.
It is said that he hopes to convince Jurgen Klopp that the best move for Solanke is a loan to Rangers to continue his development.
Daily Record sources say the close relationship between the two puts Rangers in pole position to lane the 20-year-old, who is reportedly on £25k-a-week at Anfield.
Football Insider verdict:
Gerrard hasn’t even officially taken over at Rangers and already he is being linked with some pretty sensational deals. Solanke hasn’t had an easy time of it at Liverpool, after not getting much game time at Chelsea. However, he finally got his first Premier League goal for the club on the last day of the Premier League season, in the 4-0 win against Brighton. That will give him a huge amount of confidence and his best move is surely a loan away from Anfield? Where better than a club that will guarantee him first-team football, in front of rabid fans that can rival Liverpool’s on their day, and under a manager with really strong links to Liverpool? Everything says this one is a goer. We’re sure that Solanke would be a hit at Ibrox too. All he needs is a good run in a side and if he gets that with Rangers, and gets a goal early on, he could easily rival the likes of Celtic’s Moussa Dembele.
