Gibbs-White, Murillo: Nottingham Forest face mass exodus after confirmed manager news

Nottingham Forest are in danger of losing their key players if they suffer relegation from the Premier League following Sean Dyche’s dismissal.

Forest opted to part ways with Dyche following their 0-0 draw against Wolves at the City Ground as they remain just three points outside the relegation zone.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that a number of top players including Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo could be on their way out.

Both players have attracted interest from top clubs in the Premier League including the likes of Man City and Chelsea and will not be keen to play in the Championship.

Evangelos Marinakis will be hoping the decision to sack Dyche proves to be an inspired one to keep them up, although there are concerns about the impact on the team.

Nottingham Forest face mass exodus of star players

Brown told Football Insider in January that Nottingham Forest could be forced to sell players after what has been a dismal season so far at the City Ground.

There are expected to be departures regardless of whether they go down, but should West Ham leapfrog them over the coming weeks, they may have no choice.

Forest are in real trouble if they get relegated,” Brown told Football Insider.

There are a lot of top-quality players there who aren’t going to want to stick around in the Championship, and they’ll have clubs offering them a way out.

“I’m talking about the likes of Gibbs-White, Murillo, these are real top players.

“They’ve shown at Forest that they’re capable of playing at a high level and they’re going to have no shortage of clubs offering them that opportunity.

“You get it all the time, clubs get relegated and their best players immediately look for a way out because they don’t want to play Championship football.

“It will be extremely difficult for Forest to keep hold of them if that happens.

I don’t see any way Forest can stop them leaving, it’s just about how much money they’ll get because that’s another factor that comes into it as well.

“They have to sell, but they still want to make as much money as possible, and then the issue is that clubs won’t pay top money for relegated players.”

How will sacking Sean Dyche impact Nottingham Forest?

Brown warned Football Insider in October that Nottingham Forest players are not happy behind the scenes, with many left disillusioned by this season’s constant changes.

That came following Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal, and with his successor now also shown the door, a season full of turmoil has taken another twist.

There are concerns that the decision may have more of a negative impact than a positive one, with uncertainty building at the City Ground.

Former Wolves boss Vitor Perieira is the front-runner for Forest, having previously worked with Evangelos Marinakis during his time as Olympiacos manager.

Whether he can save Forest from the drop remains to be seen, but it would create no end of issues if they were dragged into the relegation zone.
