Graham Roberts issues Twitter warning to Tottenham stars as mega-clubs reportedly circle

By Danny Wright

Graham Roberts has warned Tottenham’s star players that they should not be pursuing moves away from North London in the near future.

A number of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad have been linked with moves to some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs abut former Spurs player Roberts thinks it would be foolish for them to abandon what is a brilliant project at the club.

He also thinks that in the not-too-distant future, Tottenham’s financial resources will be one of the best in the country.

“If we were not competing at the top level, I would accept players wanting to move. But any player who doesn’t want be part of Pochettino’s side, more fool them,” said Roberts in a plea for loyalty on his personal Twitter account.

“Eventually Spurs will be able to pay top wages but we have a new ground to build and when players are so young, money should not be top of their list.”

Two of Tottenham’s biggest midfield talents, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, have been touted to move away from the capital city in the summer.

According to the Mirror, Spanish giants Barcelona have been keeping an eye on Eriksen over a summer move to the Nou Camp while the Express claimed back in February that Manchester City are planning a world-record bid for Alli.

Spurs could still win the Premier League title this season, although they are four points behind rivals Chelsea, who knocked Pochettino’s side out of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Tottenham can bounce back when they travel to Crystal Palace on Wednesday night but could find themselves seven points adrift of Antonio Conte’s side as they welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs are reportedly interested in raiding their Premier League rivals for this teenage sensation.
