'Great news', 'Deserves a chance' - Rangers fans react as club confirms deal for 21-year-old striker

Rangers have confirmed 21-year-old striker Ryan Hardie has signed a new deal with the club – and Gers fans are happy to see the hitman given a chance to show what he can do.

The Light Blues confirmed the news on their official Twitter account, with the striker signing a one-year extension after spending the second half of last season on loan with Livingston.

During his time at the Tony Macaroni Arena the Scotland Under-21 international hit the net nine times and looked likely to leave Ibrox this summer.

Hardie made his first-team debut for the Gers under Ally McCoist but has failed to convince any of Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha or Graeme Murty he was deserving of a regular spot in the side

Gers fans hope the Stranraer-born ace gets more game-time this season – with one fan asking if the Light Blues will “start playing him then?”

With Eduardo Herrera likely on his way out of Ibrox this summer and it looking as though there won’t be a return for Jason Cummings, Hardie could find himself with an important role to play this season.

The 21-year-old could well end up as back up to Alfredo Morelos as Steven Gerrard’s side look to end Celtic’s recent domination of the Scottish game and lift their first major trophy since 2011.
