Leeds Under-23 sensation Jack Clarke is set to be the next youngster to be unleashed into the first team.
Leeds fans have been clamouring for Clarke to be given his chance and it looks like it might be just round the corner, after a string of impressive displays.
Talking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Bolton on easter Friday, Heckingbottom admitted that he could get his chance soon.
“He [Clarke] is possibly the next one in,” said Heckingbottom as quoted by Leeds.Live, “but he’s got a lot of competition in front of him.
“Done well for a long time though. Been performing well. The club needs to manage him properly and there will come a time when he’s dipped into it.”
Football Insider verdict:
Leeds fans will love this. They’ve been celebrating the cause of Clarke for a long time now. The 17-year-old created two goals in the 3-0 victory for the Under-23s against Cardiff last Friday and fans will be delighted to see him get a chance in the first team. Heckingbottom is managing his expectations by saying there is plenty of competition in front of him, and there is. Jay-Roy Grot, Caleb Ekuban and possibly even Pawel Cibicki are all ahead of Clarke in the pecking order. But if he can snatch his chance where they’ve failed…
