‘Here we go again’ – Chris Sutton aims dig at Rangers star after Celtic semi-final claim
BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has aimed a dig at Rangers star Alfredo Morelos after the Gers hitman promised to finally break his Old Firm scoring duck in the upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic.
The 21-year-old striker made the claim, as quoted by the Daily Record, as a promise to his family that he would finally score against the Hoops after missing some great chances against Brendan Rodgers’ side in the previous matches between the teams this season.
Sutton, as quoted on his personal Twitter account, wasn’t too impressed with the Colombian’s comments.
“Here we go again…” the former Celtic striker said.
Morelos, who has scored 17 goals this season, will have two chances to score against Celtic this month, as well as the Scottish Cup clash the teams will face off in the last league meeting of the season between the teams at Celtic Park.
Football Insider verdict
Sutton knows exactly what he is doing with his comment, he is slyly accusing Rangers of being overconfident for the semi-final, and not doing their talking on the park, as was the case in the league clash between the sides last season. Morelos really does need a goal in the upcoming semi-final, as he has been guilty of missing good chances in all three Old Firm games this season, it would round off what has been an excellent first season with the Gers in style, and would answer all the doubters who don’t think that the player has what it takes to make it at the very top level of the game.
