How Sean Dyche feels about joining Rangers as Sky Sports drop update live on air

Rangers finally sacked Russell Martin after just over four months in charge, after the club continued their poor run of form.

Rangers’ 1-1 draw away at Falkirk was the final nail in Martin’s coffin, with the club relieving the 39-year-old of his duties after the game.

Sean Dyche has been linked to the Rangers job due to his connections with sporting director Kevin Thelwell.

Danny Rohl has also been linked to Rangers and was supposedly in the running in the summer before Martin was given the role.

Sean Dyche not interested in Rangers job

While many Rangers fans want to see the return of Steven Gerrard, many reports have suggested the club may go in a different direction.

Dyche has been one of the most popular names connected with the vacant position, but reports from Scotland suggest that may not be happening.

Despite his links, Sky Sports News have reported: “Sean Dyche has also been mentioned again, but Sky Sports News understands he would not be interested in the role at this time.”

While Rangers have slipped to eighth in the Scottish Premiership table with just eight points on the board, the hierarchy at the club has two weeks to appoint a new man before the international break draws to a close.

Steven Gerrard a favourite for the job with the fans

Sky Sports News’ report added: “It is thought several members of the Rangers board had been ready to sack Martin earlier in the campaign, but others had wanted to see if he could turn things around.

“The preferred choice among many supporters appears to be a return for Steven Gerrard, but it is not clear how feasible that is at this stage.

Rangers’ new boss will have their worl cut out for them

“It is understood there is no clear outstanding candidate so far, despite a number of names being linked with the job.

“Hearts’ Derek McInnes is believed to have admirers at Ibrox, but his side are currently top of the Scottish Premiership.”

While Rangers ponder over their decision, the unrest at Ibrox will only grow, after frustrations have now turned from Martin to the members of the board who initially appointed him at Ibrox.
