Hudson-Odoi reacts to Murillo’s farewell message after Nottingham Forest exit confirmed

Nottingham Forest players joined those to react to Murillo’s emotional farewell message on social media.

It has been a turbulent week for Forest after the club decided to part ways and sack Nuno Espirito Santo. They moved quickly to find a replacement as Nottingham Forest appointed Ange Postecoglou, and his first game in charge will be Arsenal on 13 September.

Nuno had made no secret of his frustrations and had publicly stated he was unhappy with the side’s transfer business during the summer, as well as claiming his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis had deteriorated.

Before his sacking, Football Insider revealed that Nuno was set to be dismissed following talks with Marinakis, and it was later confirmed on 8 September that the Portuguese had been sacked.

Now, defender Murillo, who established himself as a key figure under Nuno, shared an emotional message to his former manager.

Murillo dedicates tribute message to Nuno Espirito Santo

Murillo posted on Instagram to dispatch a message directly to Nuno after his confirmed exit from the club.

He captioned an emotional post where he said “You always know how grateful I am that you have always believed in my work” and added, “I will always be rooting for you for everything we go through together”.

His message saw plenty of reaction with Hudson Odoi, Neco Williams and Ola Aina all liking the post.

Murillo has been a key figure for Forest under Nuno, forming a dominant defensive partnership alongside Nikola Milenkovic, helping the side to a Europa League finish last term.

His performances have inevitably caught the attention of top clubs. Former chief scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that Nottingham Forest were “doing everything” to keep Murillo, with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool interested in a deal.

Arsenal set sights on Murillo transfer

Although Murillo stayed beyond the summer window, his form continues to gain the interest of clubs.

Football Insider revealed on 9 September that Arsenal are among several teams keeping an eye on Murillo as they continue to eye further players for their squad depth.

Forest placed a massive asking price on Murillo this summer to deter any interest, as they were reluctant to lose another key player after selling Anthony Elanga.

However, the Gunners are tracking the Brazilian defender’s situation and want to avoid any situation where key players are injured without an adequate replacement.
