Don Hutchison has urged both Everton and rivals Liverpool to make an ambitious move for Jonathan Tah and William Carvalho this window.

Tah, 20, and Carvalho, 24, are two of the brightest young players around Europe playing with Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting Lisbon respectively.

It would be an ambitious move for both sides due to the status the two players have around the globe and the interested clubs they would have in them if they were to become available.

But, they have been linked with Liverpool in recent times and Portuguese outlet Abola reported on Tuesday that the Reds were interested in Carvalho, while they have also previously been linked with Tah.

However, Hutchison, who played for both Merseyside clubs during his career feels that the defensive players would also be great additions to Everton and believes that both clubs should be making moves for them this window.

Speaking on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon the former Scotland international showed his eagerness for Liverpool and Everton to go out and purchase the young duo.

Carvalho has already been capped 28 times by Portugal at his young age and he was part of the 2016 European Championship’s winning side.

He also starred as the Under-21s side finished runners-up in the younger tournament in 2015 and he was named the player of the competition.

Meanwhile, Tah has been capped three times by Germany and will surely have a number of clubs chasing his signature if he becomes available this month.

Football Insider verdict:

The duo would be excellent additions to both Everton and Liverpool. However, the players may be a level above those the Toffees can attract to the club without bringing cost into the equation. The two players have already shown at their young age that they have what it takes to play at the highest level and they are only going to get better. They are the types of players you wouldn’t be surprised to see move to Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Juventus or even Real Madrid and Barcelona. Liverpool still have a name in football, but they will need to qualify for the Champions League if they are to attract these types of players, while as mentioned the Toffees just can’t with their current status. Hutchison may be being a bit too ambitious with his targets for the club and it is likely that he will be disappointed once the window ends in a weeks time.
