Danny Mills was blown away by Nottingham Forest attacker Joe Lolley in the club’s 2-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday evening.

The former Leeds and England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, was left heralding the 27-year-old after he played a key part in sinking their Championship promotion rivals.

Lolley was a constant thorn in the side of Marcelo Bielsa’s men at the City Ground, picking up an assist in injury time after dispossessing Jack Harrison and laying off Tyler Walker for his first goal of the season.

Mills says that Forest were far and away the better side on Saturday and that Lolley, who saw Lewis Grabban miss a near-open goal after his mazy dribble, was an outstanding performer against his old team.

“He played incredible, incredibly well,” Mills told Football Insider.

“How Lewis Grabban didn’t score when he was clean through, I do not know. That was just incredible. No idea.

“It was harder to do that than it was the other way round. It was great play from Lolley and all he needed to do was roll it into an empty net.”

Lolley has been a mainstay for Salim Lamrouchi this season, scoring eight goals and setting up a further seven for his teammates after playing in a multitude of positions across the forward line.

Having signed for Forest from Huddersfield back in January 2018, he has a total of 98 appearances under his belt, scoring 23 times and chipping in with 21 assists.

In other Nottingham Forest news, Mills has suggested one Leeds man could be shockingly axed after his display at the City Ground.
