Insider: Rangers deal for top target close with player swap on the cards
It has been reported that a Rangers player could be heading to Hamilton as part of the Scottish giant’s move for midfielder Greg Docherty.
EstConsultancy, which is a reliable source of Rangers news, made the announcement citing Rocksport Radio’s Talking Football show (Friday, 6pm).

This followed news that Rangers were closing in on a deal for the 21-year-old as Graeme Murty looks to add another name to Ibrox in what has already been a busy transfer window.
The Daily Record claimed that talks had reached a stage where the player was left out of training and the matchday squad for the Scottish Cup match at the weekend.
It was claimed that after an initial bid of £350k had been rejected, that a new and improved bid for Docherty was expected today (Friday 19/01).
Now it looks like that could involve a Rangers player moving in the other direction.
Football insider verdict:
This news signifies that a deal is almost complete. It looked like Rangers and Hamilton were a mile away in their valuations of the player but it seems like a makeweight could be added to sweeten the deal. That would suit both sides, with Rangers getting crucial experience for a fringe player and Hamilton compensating for the loss of Docherty. With this news we expect the deal to be announced within the next 24 hours.
In other Rangers news, the club have suffered a double defensive blow with a pair ruled out for several weeks.
