James Maddison and Dominic Solanke react to Dejan Kulusevski’s ‘journey’ message

Dejan Kulusevski has posted a new message amid links he could quit Tottenham this summer.

Football Insider were exclusively told in April that Kulusevski was interested in a move away from Spurs with Italian clubs AC Milan and Napoli both looking at the midfielder.

Spurs’ pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White could also have an impact on Kulusevski’s future at the club.

However, Forest are reluctant to lose Gibbs-White and insist Spurs made an “illegal” approach for the 25-year-old, who has a £60million release clause in his contract.

Kulusevski faces competition amid uncertain future

Spurs endured a tough 2024/25 season and despite winning the Europa League with a narrow victory over Manchester United in May, Daniel Levy decided to sack manager Ange Postecoglou.

Thomas Frank has been appointed from Brentford and the Danish manager has already dipped into the transfer market to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

Amid uncertainty now around his future at Spurs, Kulusevski has shared a new message on Instagram for supporters.

The Swedish international posted pictures of him and his daughter with the caption: “Blessings on the journey.”

The post was liked by Spurs team mates James Maddison and Dominic Solanke.

Frank must make verdict on forward options

Football Insider Verdict

Kulusevski will face increased competition at Spurs following the arrival of Kudus.

Both players like to occupy similar positions on the pitch, and Frank may have to work out during pre-season whether the pair can play together in the same side.

Kulusevski’s stats in the 2024/25 season across all competitions for Spurs.

With the likes of Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert also competing for places in the starting line-up, Frank has plenty of options to experiment with ahead of Spurs’ opening league fixture against Burnley.

Forward Son Heung-min is linked with a move to LAFC in America, which could free up a space down the flank, whilst striker Richarlison could also leave Spurs this summer.

Solanke is expected to lead the line and the striker has proven in his time at Bournemouth and in spells last season, that he can score goals given the service.

Spurs’ problem last season though was keeping clean sheets, which Frank will need to urgently address as they prepare to return to the Champions League.

Defender Cristian Romero could depart to Atletico Madrid and Spurs have lined up Bournemouth centre-back Illia Zabarnyi as a replacement.
