James Maddison sends message to teammate as Tottenham injury crisis worsens

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison took to social media to send a message to teammate Radu Dragusin as the club’s injury crisis worsens.

Dragusin, 23, is set to miss the rest of the season and a portion of next after tearing his ACL in Spurs’ 3-0 Europa League win over Swedish side Elfsborg.

The centre-back was clearly devastated as he was forced to leave the pitch, with many fans suggesting the club is cursed because of their ongoing issues.

Spurs currently have eight players sidelined, including Maddison, 28, and other stars such as Dominic Solanke and Cristian Romero.

The North London club have seriously struggled this season, sitting in 14th with eight wins, three draws, 13 defeats, and 27 points from their 24 games.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Keith Wyness doesn’t believe Ange Postecoglu is to blame for their poor run of form, instead pointing the finger at their current injury crisis.

James Maddison wishes Radu Dragusin well as Tottenham injury crisis continues

Dragusin has had plenty of opportunities at Spurs due to their ongoing injury crisis, starting 25 of his 28 games across all competitions and providing zero goal contributions in his 2179 minutes of action.

Maddison has also been thrust into the forefront due to the club’s injuries, starting 21 of his 31 games across all competitions, scoring nine goals, and providing six assists in his 1867 minutes on the field.

Postecoglu has received some positive news, with Micky van de Ven making his long-anticipated return in the win over Elfsborg.

The England international took to Instagram to show his support for teammate Dragusin, saying: “Be with you every step of the way brother.”

Tottenham launched a late-window, £70million bid for Marc Guehi as a potential solution to their defensive injury crisis but the offer was ultimately rejected by Crystal Palace.

Spurs will be hoping they’re able to keep hold of their dangerous 1-0 aggregate lead as they head to Anfield for their League Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday (February 6).
