Carragher reacts on Twitter to Newcastle transfer sensation

By Harvey Byrne

Liverpool great Jamie Carragher has humorously suggested the Newcastle police raid was a set-up by manager Rafa Benitez in an attempt to gain full control of the club’s transfers.

News broke on Wednesday morning that the north east giants had been raided as part of a police investigation alongside Premier League club West Ham.

It was further reported that the Magpies’ managing director Lee Charnley had been arrested by police at the club’s St. James’ park.

It was the latter news which brought a hilarious response from Sky Sports News pundit Carragher from his personal Twitter account as he shared that he knew his old boss would “find a way of getting control of all the transfers.”

Newcastle won promotion back to the Premier League on Monday evening after their 4-1 victory over Preston and there has since been questions about whether Mike Ashley and his boardroom staff may contribute to the clubs incoming transfers this summer.

However, many are keen to see Benitez, who has past experience with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Inter Milan to name a few of his previous clubs to have full control of the transfers at Newcastle.

In other Newcastle news, the Magpies’ support alongside West Ham fans have also reacted.
