Jermaine Jenas believes that Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is “brilliant” and a strong contender for signing of the season.
However the BT Sport pundit also thinks that Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante could offer strong competition to the Spurs man after winning back to back Premier League titles with different teams.
There’s no denying that the two midfield dynamos have been pivotal to their sides’ success over the course of the campaign, but Jenas suggests that Waynama, formerly of Southampton, might have just edged it in his opinion.
“Kante’s been a sensation at Chelsea and I think Wanyama at Spurs as well has been sensational,” said Jenas in a video on BT Sport Score’s official Twitter account on Sunday.
“In the big games and the big moments he’s been the huge part of why they’ve got those extra ten points this season – because they’ve improved in that area of the park.
“They’re both brilliant so take your pick.”

Wanyama arrived from St. Mary’s in June for £11million and has since made 47 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, scoring five goals while playing a huge part in the centre of the midfield alongside the likes of Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier.
He will go down in history as being a goal scorer in the final match at White Hart Lane when he opened the scoring in a 2-1 win over Manchester United.
Kante moved to Chelsea with a lot of hype on his shoulders following an unbelievable season at Leicester.
However the French international was not at all phased as he became the lynchpin in Antonio Conte’s brilliant side that went on to beat Spurs to the Premier League title.
The 26-year-old made 40 appearances across all domestic competition this term, scoring two goals.
In other Tottenham news, it’s been confirmed that this midfielder will undergo surgery.
