Jermaine Jeans has congratulated Newcastle on Twitter after they clinched the Championship title on Sunday.
The Magpies cruised to a 3-0 home win over Barnsley and managed to capitalise on Brighton’s 1-1 draw away to Aston Villa.
Rafael Benitez’s side finished the campaign top of the pile with 94 points and return to the Premier League as champions.
Ayoze Perez, Chancel Mbemba and Dwight Gayle scored the winning goals for Newcastle, but Jack Grealish’s 89th minute equaliser for Villa turned out to be vital.
Jenas believes his former side thoroughly deserve to return to the top-flight and he also gave a special mention to Nottingham Forest, who managed to avoid relegation on the final day of the season.
“Great day for both my old clubs congratulations Nottingham Forest on surviving. And to Newcastle what a season, thoroughly deserved, back in the prem as champions,” Jenas wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Benitez’s side have managed to deal with the pressure of favourites for promotion and will now begin preparations for the top flight.
They will swap divisions with great rivals Sunderland after their relegation from the Premier League and Newcastle fans will be delighted about that fact.
