Jermaine Jenas: This Tottenham star is POTY contender after Watford win (not Kane)
By Will Butcher
Jermaine Jenas believes Dele Alli is a contender for Premier League Player of the Season after starring in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Watford.
Alli, 20, opened the scoring in the first half with a sublime effort from the edge of the area that former Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes could do nothing about.
Jenas claimed on his personal Twitter account that the England international is a contender to win the Player of the Season award come May, as he continues to shine despite his tender age.
Former Spurs ace Jenas also praised the performances of right-back Kieran Trippier and two-goal hero Son Heung-Min for their influence during the convincing win.

Following Alli’s goal, England teammate Eric Dier doubled Spurs lead with a powerful effort from the edge of the area as he stroked home a loose ball to double his side’s lead.

In what was a glorious 10-minute spell at the end of the first half, Son then tripled Spurs lead with a left-footed effort from outside the box before doubling his tally in the second half.
The South Korea international latched on to Kieran Trippier’s cross to make it four, as Walter Mazzarri’s side stood shell-shocked.
The win sees Spurs move to within four points of league leaders Chelsea, and will be hoping Bournemouth can secure a result against the Blues on Saturday evening.
In other Tottenham news, Ossie Ardiles has claimed Spurs did not get out of second gear.
