Joao Felix told to 'upgrade' and join Newcastle United after source's reveal - pundit
A move to Newcastle United would be an “upgrade” on Chelsea for Joao Felix.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton insisted Felix’s future does not lie at Atletico Madrid and the draw of Champions League football could lure him to Newcastle.
The 23-year-old has spent the second half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Chelsea but this site previously revealed that the Blues have passed up the chance to sign him permanently.
Football Insider also revealed on Tuesday (6 June) that Aston Villa, along with several other Premier League sides have been offered the chance to sign the winger.
According to the Daily Mail (31 May), one of the other top flight sides offered the chance to sign Felix is Newcastle.
When asked for his thoughts on a potential move to Tyneside for Felix, Hutton told Football Insider: “I thought he was one of the sparks for Chelsea.

“He looked really dangerous even in his first few games.
“It has been difficult, you think of the pressure surrounding Chelsea, the managerial situation, the money that has been spent.
“He is obviously enjoying himself in the Premier League, Newcastle are an up and coming team, they are in the Champions League next season so he might see that as an upgrade at this moment in time.
“Obviously Chelsea will come back next season but it does not look like his future is at Atletico.“
