Jota Silva sends Nottingham Forest message after £43million reveal
Nottingham Forest have continued their unbelievable 2024-25 campaign by progressing to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in dramatic fashion on Monday (3 March).
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were taken all the way to a penalty shootout by Ipswich Town in a game where Forest had to dig deep to get a positive result.
George Hirst initially gave Ipswich the lead in the 53rd minute, but Ryan Yates levelled things up in the 68th only for neither team to score a winner.
Ultimately it was Matt Sels who was the hero for Forest as he saved Jack Taylor’s penalty as Forest won 5-4 in the shootout, continuing their run in the competition.
Forest have never lost an FA Cup penalty shootout and boast the third-best record in the history of the competition behind Macclesfield Town and Stevenage.
Forest have now reached the final eight in two of the last four seasons as the club continues to make positive strides forward.

Jota Silva is looking ahead to the FA Cup quarter-finals
Forest will play Brighton in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with both teams looking to book a visit to Wembley Stadium for their fans.
FA Cup Quarter Final Fixtures | Date |
Brighton vs. Nottingham Forest | 29/3/25 |
Bournemouth vs. Man City | 29/3/25 |
Fulham vs. Crystal Palace | 29/3/25 |
Preston vs. Aston Villa | 29/3/25 |
Jota Silva took to Instagram after the game to celebrate the victory but was already locked into focusing on what is next for them.
He said, “Let’s move on to the next mission. Thanks for your support!”

Nottingham Forest are continuing to fly this season
The next mission is an important one in Forest’s search for Champions League football as they face Man City in the Premier League on Saturday (8 March).
City are just one point behind them in fourth place, and a defeat for Forest could see them slip out of the top four completely if Chelsea also win at the weekend.
Forest are in the midst of an unbelievable season that has taken English football by surprise considering they were in a relegation fight last season, but the club are now on the brink of earning an extra £43million due to their upturn in performances.
