Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is said to be “fuming” after the club appear to have failed in their transfer pursuit of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, according to a journalist.
John Richardson, who himself is a fan of the Magpies, has stated on his personal Twitter account that the Spanish boss has been left angry over what has been another hunt which has finished in disappointment for the club, after vocalising his frustrations over an inability to secure his top signings in the summer window.
Normal service resumed. @NUFC miss out on transfer target. Rafa fuming. More incompetence from those charged with getting the deals over the line.

The north east side were reportedly seeking a loan deal for the Liverpool and England forward after the Reds welcomed loan offers for his signing, but Premier League rivals West Brom appear to have stolen the lead for his capture, with claims of a £1.5million fee agreed for a six month spell at the Hawthorns.
News of the Spanish manager’s rage will come as a worry to supporters, who were handed some positive news just days ago as he revealed he was open to holding talks over extending his contract at St James’ Park, with his current deal set to run out next summer.
However he insisted that any chance of a new deal was reliant on the financial strength of the club, which may include their transfer expenditure, so yet another failed transfer swoop may be casting doubts over him putting pen to paper on a new deal.
