German side Borussia Dortmund will not be sending Newcastle United’s attacking target Andre Schurrle out on loan as a result of the club’s injury woes, according to a journalist.
Freelance reporter Pete O’Rourke, who contributes to Football Insider and ESPN, has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the European giants have made the emphatic decision not to ship out the 27-year-old winger, despite his lack of playing time in the first half of the season, ending the Magpies chances of securing his signature this month.

The 57-cap German international and former Chelsea forward has managed to turn out just 10 times across all competitions this season, with injuries limiting his availability, while he has just three starts to his name when fully fit.
Football Insider verdict
Schurrle seemed like the sort of exciting transfer swoop that Newcastle could have done with securing this month, especially considering his experience in both the Premier League and on the international stage. However, as the hours tick down to Wednesday’s transfer deadline, it appears as though any chance of bringing in a new forward has slipped from their grasp, in what is a hammer blow for Rafael Benitez, the first team squad and the fans. There is a sense of real discontent on Tyneside with just the one new arrival this month, and with relegation a serious threat come the end of the season, the Magpies’ failings this month may just have secured their future.
In other Newcastle United transfer news, an international hitman has been named at evens to secure a transfer move this month.
