Kenny backs Tottenham to complete 'phenomenal' Coady signing after announcement
Connor Coady is a “phenomenal leader” and would be a “huge signing” for Tottenham this summer to replace Toby Alderweireld.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ pursuit of the 28-year-old centre-back.
This site revealed on 2nd August that Tottenham have opened preliminary talks with the Wolves skipper.
That comes after Spurs announced on 27th July that Alderweireld had departed for Qatari side Al-Duhail after six years in North London.
Coady, whose Wolves contract runs until 2025, was considered a “lieutenant” by Nuno Espirito Santo during his time at Molineux.
Kenny hailed Coady’s leadership qualities and insisted he can be the perfect replacement for Alderweireld in the heart of the defence.

“I’ve always thought he was a really good player,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“Even watching him against Sheffield United five or six years ago, you could tell there was something about him.
“He’ll be a phenomenal leader for them after losing Alderwiereld as well. It would be a huge signing from Spurs.
“He’s played a huge amount of games for Wolves and he’ll do the same for Tottenham if they do get to sign him.
“He was unlucky not to feature more heavily in that England squad, in my opinion.”
Football Insider first broke news on 23rd July that Spurs have agreed personal terms with Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero.
Tottenham are also submitting a new £17million bid for Genoa’s Takehiro Tomiyasu this week, as revealed by this site today (5th August).
