Key 23-year-old confirms fitness after injury doubts ahead of Tottenham v Millwall
By Harvey Byrne
Millwall goalkeeper Jordan Archer has revealed he has told Tottenham stopper and friend Hugo Lloris that he is fit for Sunday’s FA Cup clash.
The 23-year-old was previously thought of as a doubt for the White Hart Lane tie having missed his side’s last four league matches through injury.
However, Archer himself has confirmed his fitness in an interview with ESPN after telling how he has told former teammate Lloris he is fit.
“I bumped into Hugo [this week] and he was all smiles. We both had a big grin on our faces. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve seen him and I asked how he’s been, and likewise. He asked if I was fit and I told him yes! So I’m looking forward to bumping into him again on Sunday,” told Archer to ESPN.

“To train with someone like that, the France captain, you learn a lot.
“Someone in his position could easily be arrogant and not care about the young goalkeepers. He couldn’t be further from that. He’s the opposite. He cares and he always had time for the young goalkeepers in training. If he saw something, he’d point it out. He’s fantastic.
“There aren’t many goalkeepers in the world who are going to dislodge the France captain… I was under no illusions that I was going to get first team games. I had to drop down a few leagues and try to make a name for myself.
“As a 15-year-old, my dream was to walk out at White Hart Lane in a Spurs shirt. That didn’t materialise and I’m proud to do the same thing in a Millwall shirt.”
Archer was previously on the books at Tottenham as a youngster between 2009 and 2015.
He failed to make a senior appearance for the north London-based club, but he is currently excelling with Millwall.
With 89 goals conceded and 34 clean sheets kept in 86 outings for the Lions it may prove tough for Tottenham to find a way past him on Sunday.
A win for either side will present the chance of a trip to Wembley with the FA Cup semi-final stage beckoning for the victor.
