Kyle Walker posts new message to Man City fans, Jack Grealish reacts

Man City right-back Kyle Walker has taken to social media to thank the fans after a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

The reigning English champions finally put their winless run of seven games to an end on 4 December with a comprehensive Premier League victory at the Etihad Stadium.

The 34-year-old came on as a half-time substitute for Manuel Akanji. This is despite Football Insider revealing that Man City staff have raised concerns about the 34-year-old’s performances so far this season.

He has also faced criticism, with some Man City fans calling for his retirement after a disappointing performance against Liverpool last Sunday (1 December).

However, the England international has not let the backlash affect him. He took to Instagram to thank supporters for their encouragement and to celebrate the team’s first victory in seven games, with the message subsequently liked by City star Jack Grealish.

The caption says: “The win we needed tonight and 3 points to build on. Now onto Saturday. Thank you to all the fans tonight for your excellent support.”

Walker entered the fray in the second half after Kevin De Bruyne inspired the Cityzens to a 2-0 lead with a goal and an assist on his return to the starting eleven.

De Bruyne, however, had a moment to forget when a sloppy pass gifted Chris Wood a one-on-one chance, a misstep labelled as “terrible” by Michael Dawson live on Sky Sports Soccer Special.

Jeremy Doku capped off the scoring in the 57th minute with a composed finish, sealing a morale-boosting victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The result saw City close the gap to nine points behind Liverpool, who had earlier played out a dramatic 3-3 draw with Newcastle.

The club captain has struggled for consistency in Guardiola’s side this season, starting just seven of their 14 matches.

City’s next fixture is Crystal Palace on Saturday (December 7) in the upcoming hectic festive fixtures. They’ll hope they can recover the nine-point deficit at the top of the table to leaders Liverpool.

In other news, Palace have no intention of selling Adam Wharton despite growing interest from Man City.
