Peter Lawwell remains locked in talks over a summer deal for PSG striker Odsonne Edouard.
Talking in the Scottish Sun, Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the 20-year-old had likely played his last game for Celtic after picking up an injury against Hearts.
However, he also confirmed that chief executive Peter Lawwell was still in talks with PSG over a deal that could bring the talented striker back to Parkhead next season.
“His contract is pretty clear. Peter has met PSG and talks are ongoing, so I’m hoping we can come to an agreement.
“I know the boy is happy and PSG have enjoyed watching him develop here.
“It would be great if we could get this one done..
Football Insider verdict:
Edouard has really come into his own in the latter part of the season, culminating in his masterful performance in the last Old Firm derby. His two goals against Rangers and all-round play in the 5-0 win will have convinced fans that he can kick on and lead the line next season. PSG are said to be happy with how he has been progressing and he’s certainly not ready for their first team yet. That would seem to suggest that another loan deal would suit both parties and expose Edouard to high-level football in the Champions League. Rodgers is a fan, Lawwell is involved in the talks and Edouard seems happy in Scotland. All of that points to a deal that will help keep Celtic at the top of the pile north of the border.
