'Great news', 'Don't rush' - Leeds fans firmly divided over latest official statement

Leeds United fans have been left divided on social media after the club revealed that striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga had stepped up in his attempts to recover from an injury layoff.

The Whites revealed on Wednesday that the German striker, on a season-long loan at Elland Road from Hamburg SV, had returned to full training via their official Twitter account.

Manager Thomas Christiansen has seen something of an injury crisis among the attackers at the club in recent weeks, with current layoffs Lasogga, Jay Roy Grot, Stuart Dallas and Pablo Hernandez joined by Caleb Ekuban after he limped off against QPR on Saturday, and he is set for an extended period of medical attention.

As such, Lasogga’s return to action will come as a timely boost for the Danish manager, although not everyone was feeling so positive about seeing him take back in place in the first team set up.

The Leeds faithful were firmly divided on Twitter over the club’s statement, with many feeling he has not shown that he has what it takes to succeed at Elland Road, while others were positively delighted about his return.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets, starting with the positives:

However, not everyone shared the enthusiasm:

Since arriving at Elland Road, Lasogga has made 11 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and chipping in with a further four assists.
