'Insult to the clubs history', 'Absolute disaster' - Leeds fans fume as Whites make bold reveal

Leeds United fans have been left fuming on social media after the club made their bold reveal for the Player of the Year nominees.

The Whites have endured a torrid season, which includes picking up just two wins since the start of 2018, and languish in 14th after holding out early hopes of a play off spot come the end of the campaign.

The four senior stars put forward for the honour, as revealed on the Whites’ official Twitter account, were Ezgjan Alioski, Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe and Samu Saiz, while the club also made the touching gesture to include five-year-old Toby Nye among the candidates, a Leeds United fan who is battling stage four neuroblastoma.

However, fans were less than impressed with the options available, taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations, many insisting that none of them deserved the award, and others naming Hernandez as the deserved winner.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Of the candidates, Roofe has been the clubs top scorer with 13 goals across all competitions, while Hernandez has chipped in with the most assists, setting his team mates up 10 times.

In terms of goals contributed to, adding both their strikes and assists, the Spaniard leads the way with 19, followed by Saiz and Roofe with 17 and Alioski on 12.

In other Leeds United news, the club are closing in on the capture of a Champions League mainstay.
