'Insult to the clubs history', 'Absolute disaster' - Leeds fans fume as Whites make bold reveal
Leeds United fans have been left fuming on social media after the club made their bold reveal for the Player of the Year nominees.
The Whites have endured a torrid season, which includes picking up just two wins since the start of 2018, and languish in 14th after holding out early hopes of a play off spot come the end of the campaign.
The four senior stars put forward for the honour, as revealed on the Whites’ official Twitter account, were Ezgjan Alioski, Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe and Samu Saiz, while the club also made the touching gesture to include five-year-old Toby Nye among the candidates, a Leeds United fan who is battling stage four neuroblastoma.

However, fans were less than impressed with the options available, taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations, many insisting that none of them deserved the award, and others naming Hernandez as the deserved winner.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
Nominating Roofe and Alioski is indicative of a poor, poor season. They've been average and that's being kind. Saiz has been brilliant in short spells and got himself banned for 6 games for being a petulant arse.
Even Pablo is only effective at home generally.

Or just given it to Pablo Hernandez? I mean they’ve even added roofe just to add the numbers up????

You could argue the same applies to the rest of the list.

It’s got to be Pablo. Anyone else would be an insult to the clubs history of players who show the slightest bit of workrate for the badge. #lufc #mot

When you know a player who you won’t give a contract to will win and you don’t want to look ridiculous presenting him with the award…

This list is embarrassing

An absolute disaster of a season summed up with this, well done. Just give the award to Pablo, no need for a vote.
