Leeds United looked closely at Jaap Stam as manager before they settled on Thomas Christiansen, according to a reliable journalist – and fans think they dodged a bullet.

Phil Hay, from the Yorkshire Evening Post, reported the news on his personal Twitter page shortly after Reading sacked Stam.

He said it was “funny how things go” before adding that Stam had been on his way out of Reading for a while.

Fans pretty unanimously said that they didn’t want Jaap Stam anywhere near their club, and are obviously hoping his new-found availability doesn’t make Andrea Radrizzani think of him again.

One fan said that he wasn’t a fan of Stam’s but at least he had a plan, unlike Paul Heckingbottom.

Another fan said it was just more evidence that Radrizzani doesn’t have a clue when it comes to managerial appointments.
