'We have to be ambitious' - Leeds fans urge club to sign 23-year-old PL attacker

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds fans have urged their club on Twitter to sign Leicester attacker Tom Lawrence after his loan spell with Ipswich came to an end.

The 23-year-old left-winger has spent the season on loan at the Tractor Boys and returns to the Foxes after a successful campaign which has seen him bag 11 goals and 11 assists in 36 matches for Ipswich.

In January, BBC Radio Yorkshire journalist Joe Rawson revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Whites were interested in the young attacker.

Now, fans have expressed their wants on social media for the club to make a move for Lawrence, who is still contracted to Premier League side Leicester until the summer of 2018.

A number of supporters included the five-time capped Wales international on a list of summer targets they want to see the club make moves for, while one fan stated it would be an ambitious move from the club if they want to progress on this season’s seventh placing.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Lawrence has not made an appearance for the Leicester first team since March 2015 in a 0-0 draw with Hull.

With his contract at the Foxes set to enter it’s final year at the end of May, he could become a realistic target for Leeds, who will be wanting to finish in a promotion spot next season.

In other Leeds transfer news, a fitness coach at the club has dropped a strong Twitter hint that midfielder is leaving.
