Alfonso Perada will undergo a medical at Leeds before an announcement in the next 24 hours, according to a reliable journalist.
The Yorkshire giants have completed just one deal in the winter window with Pablo Hernandez signing permanently after initially impressing on loan.
But, they are likely to complete their second deal before Tuesday’s 11.00pm deadline in the form of another Spaniard in Pedraza.
Radio Yorkshire journalist Joe Rawson reported on his personal Twitter account on Monday that the left-winger was to have a medical later on Monday evening before an announcement on Tuesday morning.
The report states that parent club Villarreal paid £255,000 to cut his loan short at Spanish second division side Lugo to allow him to move to the Yorkshire giants.
It is stated that he will initially join on a loan deal, which includes an option to buy for £8.5million if they win promotion to the Premier League.
Garry Monk and his team are currently flying high in the English second tier in fourth place and a return to the English top flight is looking likely as they enter the final phase of the league season.
Football Insider verdict:
Pedraza looks a very promising signing for Leeds. Without knowing too much about him due to his young age, he definitely looks like he can contribute in a side which has Souleymane Doukara occupying the left-wing spot. Monk and his team are doing remarkably well in the league this season and are far exceeding pre-season expectations. They must now bring in players ready to help them push on and move onto the next level and Pedraza would certainly help them to do so. At just 20 the player is not yet the finished article and he could become a very exciting player for the club in the short-term and the future.
