Kenny tells Bertrand to sign for Leeds after talkSPORT offer update

Ryan Bertrand’s wealth of Premier League experience would make him a superb signing for Leeds United.

That is according to ex-Leeds goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Southampton left-back and soon-to-be free agent.

The Saints announced on 12 May that the 31-year-old would leave the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June.

He has racked up 258 Premier League appearances in total, 214 of those coming during his time at St. Mary’s.

Arsenal, Leicester City and AC Milan are all keen on the 19-cap England man, according to talkSPORT.

Leeds are in the market for a left-back with Ezgjan Alioski set to depart at the end of his contract.

Kenny insists that Bertrand would be perfect for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who could offer him the first-team football he might not get at Arsenal, Leicester or AC Milan.

“I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for him at Leeds,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“He’s an experienced Premier League player and has played a lot of games at the top level.

“He’s got a fair few years in him yet. I think they should look at this one, definitely.

“Does he want to keep playing week in, week out? Would you want to go to an Arsenal, Leicester or AC Milan and be further down the pecking order?

“Or would you want to go to Leeds, who have been unbelievable this season, and have the chance to play week in, week out? For me personally, I’d go to Leeds.”

Stade Brest’s Romain Perraud is a left-back who has caught Leeds’ eye.

They are confident of securing a deal for the Frenchman in the summer after “encouraging talks,Football Insider understands.
