‘Liverpool accelerate plan to sign Jamie Gittens after transfer mission’
Liverpool are expected to step up their efforts to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Liverpool’s scouts have been watching the 20-year-old.
Arne Slot’s side are now prepared to beat rivals to his signature as the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been keeping tabs on his progress.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota could all be allowed to leave Anfield this summer.
Slot is not happy with his current attacking options and is prepared to turn to the transfer market where the England Under-21 international has emerged as a key target.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in January that Gittens is open to a return to England amid interest from Chelsea, five years after leaving Man City in 2020.

Liverpool swoop ahead of rivals to secure Jamie Gittens deal
Brown previously told Football Insider that Liverpool scouts have been closely watching Gittens and have been in attendance at a number of Dortmund’s games.
Now, the former scout who remains very well-connected within the game after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted they are prepared to step up their efforts to beat rivals to his signature.
“There are a lot of clubs looking at him including Liverpool,” he told Football Insider.
“They’ve had scouts keeping a close eye on him and they’ve seen certain things about his game that they like and want to add to their squad.
“He’s a very interesting one because I never heard his name until I saw him playing for England’s Under-21s.
“He’s got massive pace, which is something almost every club wants to have in their side.
“That makes him a key target for Liverpool as well because they like to have these electric wingers.
“They will be Premier League champions and they know the pressure that comes with that, so they want to move quickly to add players to their squad.
“Gittens is one of those and if they decide he’s the top target, they’ll want to beat their rivals to him.
“There are question marks about why he was allowed to leave Man City to go to Dortmund in the first place, a bit like with Jadon Sancho.
“But that’s something Liverpool will know the answer to, they’ll know him inside and out, his strengths and weaknesses, through their scouting network.”

Arne Slot plotting Jarrod Bowen swoop
Liverpool are targeting a number of top-class wingers to add to Slot’s attacking options this summer as he has identified it as a clear area for improvement.
Most recently, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool want to sign Jarrod Bowen as a potential alternative to Mohamed Salah and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
His ability to play both on the wing and through the middle is seen as a key asset for Slot, while his proven goalscoring has made him a target.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool will launch a summer signing spree and plan to use Nunez’s sale to help fund their incoming deals.
