'Pass me the booze', 'Lump on City 4-0' – Liverpool fans fume as 28-year-old starts v Man City – report
Liverpool fans have reacted with dismay to the news that Virgil Van Dijk is set to miss the Premier League game with Man City, with Dejan Lovren reported to be taking his place.
The loss of the £75million new signing is a massive blow to Liverpool ahead of a game that could be the toughest they’ll face for the rest of the season.
The Liverpool Echo reported earlier on Sunday that Van Dijk has a “tight hamstring” and won’t be risked by Jurgen Klopp.
Instead, he’s reportedly set to turn to Dejan Lovren and that decision has got fans fearing the worst ahead of the 4pm kick-off at Anfield.
Here is a selection of the best tweets from fearful Liverpool fans:
Van Dijk missing today’s game. Lovren gonna start….pass me the booze.

Klavan has been amazing lately, it would be a big shock if Klopp starts Lovren, a player who is forever nervous is these games, we need a calmness in that position and Klavan is more calmer than him.

Man City haven’t won at Anfield for 15 years but they’re enjoying an incredible season, and are currently unbeaten in the Premier League.
They thrashed Liverpool 5-0 in the reverse fixture and have only dropped four points all season.
They’re currently 18 points ahead of Liverpool, with Klopp’s side in fourth.
In other Liverpool team news, this defensive colossus wanted by the Reds is on the verge of a £20million switch.
