President responds to speculation Liverpool are to sign new Ronaldinho for £26m
By Matt Bullin
Gremio chief Romildo Bolzan has insisted Liverpool have made no approach to sign Brazilian striker Luan.
This comes after the Mirror claimed Jurgen Klopp was “increasingly confident” of securing the 24-year-old with a £26million summer swoop.
The report stated representatives of the Anfield club met with the player’s business advisor Jair Peixoto and agent Gianni Losito in April, after the pair flew to London for contract negotiations.
However now Bolzan has claimed Luan, who has only one year left on his deal, has not been approached by the Reds.
Speaking after his side’s 2-0 over Botafogo on Sunday, the Gremio president told the Liverpool Echo: “We have no approach, no official proposal [from Liverpool]. We have absolutely no concrete proposal.

“Luan is a player who said he would have proposals but so far none have come, except for one about three years ago when he was on a different level.”
Luan’s agent, Peixoto, sings a different tune however, claiming there have been talks with Liverpool, but no move has been confirmed as of yet.
He said: “We do talk to Liverpool, as we talk to other clubs as well, but there is no proposal.”
Luan, who the Echo report has been dubbed the ‘new Ronaldinho’, was in good form for Gremio last campaign, and he scored six goals and supplied two assists for Gremio in 19 top flight games.
The 24-year-old has scored three goals in three Copa Libatadores appearances this term, and has six caps for Brazil.

A club chief will always insist that no clubs have made any approach to sign a star player, and Bolzan is no different. The player’s agents words may hold more truth, as he admits there have been talks, so contact has been made, despite what Bolzan says. Luan has the ability to play anywhere across the front three, and as a number 10 – so he fits the Reds’ system perfectly. He also plays for Liverpool stalwart Lucas Leiva’s old club, so should he make the move, he would be welcomed with open arms by the Reds’ Brazilian contingent.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Klopp has won the race to sign this Premier League ace, according to a report.
