Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum has admitted he wants to see Quincy Promes play alongside him for the club.
The Spartak Moscow star has been linked with a move to Merseyside and the duo are well-known friends at international level after growing up through the Dutch youth ranks together.
According to the Guardian, Promes has been identified as one of the most likely targets for Liverpool and he could be joining in this month’s transfer window.
When asked about whether Wijnaldum would like to see him join, the Dutch international stated that he would but he went on to admit he has not spoken to Promes about the possible move.
“I think he knows how great Liverpool is – I knew it before I came here. I don’t know if everything is true about what they say as I don’t speak with him about that,” said Wijnaldum, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
“Of course I want him to come to Liverpool because I know he is a good player and also a good person who can help the team but it is something for the manager and the scouts, not for me.”
Promes has been in great form for Spartak Moscow and he has already scored six league goals this season in just 14 appearances. He also netted a brace in Holland’s 4-1 victory over Belarus in October.
Wijnaldum joined the Reds in the summer after making a £25 million move from Newcastle and he is starting to become one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players.
He rounded off an impressive month in December with the crucial winning goal in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory against Manchester City at Anfield on Saturday.
