Liverpool striker takes swipe at Chelsea over team selection
By Harry Sykes
Dominic Solanke has taken a big swipe at former club Chelsea over the way they handle youth players.
Solanke was finally confirmed as a Liverpool player on Tuesday after he joined from the Premier League winners, with his fee to be decided by a compensation tribunal.
Solanke was a product of the Chelsea youth system, but despite showing bags of promise he only made one senior appearance, as a substitute in a Champions League match in the 14/15 campaign.
He spent the last season on loan at Vitesse Arnham where he scored seven goals in 26 games.
Now he’s hoping to progress his career properly at a club where Jurgen Klopp has shown he has faith in youth.
Talking to the Irish Independent, Solanke said, “Every time I see Liverpool, there’s such a family nature, there’re a lot of young players doing well at the club, so I think it will be a good place for me to develop my career
“As a young player, you always want to see the club you’re at pushing young players through.
“As a young player you just want to reach your full potential, so to have good players around you and a good manager to help will be really good.”
