Massive Alderweireld fitness boost for Tottenham – confirmed
Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld has returned to parts of first-team training, in confirmed news that’s a huge boost to Tottenham.
The official Tottenham Twitter page confirmed the good news on Friday lunchtime.
The centre-back hasn’t made a Premier League appearance for Tottenham since the end of October.
He made a return in the FA Cup recently but aggravated his hamstring again and has been training on his own over the past week.
Re-integrating the player back into first-team training is the first step in getting him back on the pitch.
Football Insider verdict:
This is great news for Tottenham and having Alderweireld back will be a huge boost. He obviously needs to be wrapped in cotton wool and it’s unlikely he’ll be back in the Premier League this month, but Spurs are a better side with him in the starting XI. Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez have formed a decent partnership but they were caught out for the Juventus goal on Wednesday. Fans will be hoping that he’ll be fit to play soon – and then it just becomes about whether he will sign a new contract at the club.
