'Massive loss', 'Typical of our luck' – Newcastle fans react as club confirms shock news

Jonjo Shelvey was confirmed as having picked up a shock injury during the Premier League game with Bournemouth.
The news was confirmed on the Newcastle website in a short message as Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie revealed more details, saying that he’d suffered the injury after colliding with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
It’s the first that Newcastle fans have heard of the injury and the shock news could get worse with the news that he’s set for further scans this week to assess the extent of the injury.

It makes him a major doubt for Saturday’s game with Liverpool and the majority of Newcastle fans are gutted after he was getting back to his best.
However, one fan jokingly asked whether he was getting his hands surgically removed from his knees.
Here are the best reactions from Newcastle fans after hearing the news:

Newcastle threw away a two-goall lead on Saturday which would have lifted them to 12th in the table – the spot currently occupied by the other automatically promoted side last season, Brighton.
Instead, Bournemouth scored twice and the draw has left them in 15th, just two points above the trapdoor.
Fans won’t be expecting much against Liverpool, but they might have been saying the same thing before the home game against Man United, where they ended up 1-0 winners.
The game kicks-off at 5.30pm on Saturday and is being shown on BT Sport.
