Rafa Benitez has confirmed that striker Islam Slimani has suffered a big setback and will not be available for at least a couple of weeks.
Benitez was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League game with Bournemouth.
He also confirmed that it was the same thigh problem that’s kept him out of the Newcastle side so far.
He said the striker would “give us something different” but that the squad could cope without him.

Newcastle fans are not happy though, with one saying it’s another example of the Newcastle crack transfer policy striking again.
Other fans are questioning whether they’ll ever see Slimani in a Newcastle shirt while another said his cost per goal would be around £1m if he ever did play.
Here are the best reactions from Newcastle fans who just can’t believe their luck:

Newcastle travel to Bournemouth on Saturday to play a game that could take them as high as 10th if they win convincingly.
Unfortunately they will have to do it without any goals from Slimani.
