McAvennie: Arsenal have 'no chance' of signing Rangers' Barisic for one major reason
Frank McAvennie claims there is “no chance” of Rangers defender Borna Barisic signing for Arsenal this summer.
The Celtic icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on the Croatian’s future.
As revealed by Football Insider on Sunday (13th June), Arsenal, Aston Villa and Wolves have joined Leeds United in the race for Barisic.
This site previously detailed how Leeds are tracking the left-back’s performances at this summer’s Euros.
Barisic, 28, is currently with the Croatia squad but played no part as his country lost 1-0 to England on Sunday.
McAvennie insists there is “no chance” the Gunners will sign Barisic while Kieran Tierney is at the club.

“He’s not going to go to Arsenal, not a chance,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They already have Tierney so there’s no way they are going to sign him. No disrespect to Rangers but a Premier League move is hard to turn down.
“Even if he goes to the bottom teams just for the money, that’s fine. He’s a mainstay at Rangers.
“But if he wants Europe, it won’t be Arsenal. They didn’t even get that new conference league. They can forget about it.
“They have a week’s holiday in Barcelona, that’s it. I imagine Barisic will only move to a club who play in Europe.
“That said, the Premier League is a big draw. The money they have can set you up for life.
“We’ll have to wait until the offer comes in but it will be a blow to Rangers if he goes. He’s been brilliant.”
Barisic contributed 14 assists in 50 appearances for Rangers during the 2020/21 campaign.
He has three years left on his contract at Ibrox.
