Medical begins: Sheffield United agree to sign Stoke City star Davies - Sources

The 29-year-old has been Heckingbottom’s top target to replace Olsen after working with his during his time in charge of Barnsley.

Davies has made 12 appearances in the Championship this season, keeping five clean sheets.

During Heckingbottom’s time at Barnsley, Davies made 104 appearances.

Former Blades keeper and Football Insider pundit Paddy Kenny was in favour of the move.

He told this site Sheffield United should sign someone who “can actually be of use to us instead of sitting on the bench doing nothing”.
