Newcastle finally look to complete their search for a new striker and the news comes after it was reported by Sky on their live transfer blog (10:55) that the striker would be signing on loan for the rest of the season.
They’ve reportedly beaten off West Ham and Monaco for his signature and if the rest of his medical goes according to plan he will be officially announced later today.
Football Insider verdict:
It might not be the stellar name that Newcastle fans were hoping for when the takeover was still a thing, but Slimani has got a good record. He signed for almost £28million in the summer of 2016 and since then has scored 13 goals in 46 appearances for Leicester – but he’s never really had a run in the side. Go back to Sporting CP and he scored 57 goals in 111 games, and it’s this that Newcastle will be hoping to tap back into. If they can they could have a player who can fire them up to Premier League safety. Slimani is highly rated and it will be fascinating to see what Benitez can do with him.
