Celtic have stepped up their signing blitz by reaching agreement over a deal with Rapid Vienna for defender Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, Football Insider can reveal.
Neil Lennon admitted last night the Scottish treble winners are hoping to finalising the capture of the left-back, 24, and a transfer is now edging closer.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Bolingoli-Mbombo is set to undergo a medical this week and put the finishing touches to a transfer worth up to £3million.
As revealed by Football Insider yesterday, he has agreed personal terms with Celtic after being offered a long-term contract.
He will become the club’s third capture in a week, following the £7million capture from Toulouse of giant centre-back Christopher Julien and the £250,000 arrival of rising star Luca Connell after his Bolton Wanderers contract expired.
The imminent Bolingoli-Mbombo signing will only further increase speculation that Celtic will cash in on Kieran Tierney, who is the subject of strong interest from Arsenal and Napoli.
Lennon has admitted the club will sell the left-back if their valuation is met, and it appears increasingly likely he will not be at Parkhead next season.
The Celtic source said the club are in the market for two senior left-backs, with the plan for Bolingoli-Mbombo to be joined by another proven operator in that area.
The Belgian has an impressive CV after being a regular for Rapid Vienna last season, making 26 league starts and eight Europa League starts among 42 appearances in all competitions.
