Morgan Whittaker is undergoing a medical at Swansea City ahead of a £1million move from Derby County, Football Insider understands.
The 20-year-old has played just 37 minutes of senior football since Philip Cocu’s departure from Pride Park in November.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider he is set to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.
This site revealed earlier this month the Rams had recruited agents to help find buyers for some of their players in an attempt to balance the books.
Kaide Gordon, 16, is set to join Liverpool and Whittaker is set to follow him out of the door at Derby.
The Rams have been busy towards the end of the window with Wayne Rooney raiding his former club Manchester United for the loan signing of young defender Teden Mengi.
The 18-year-old is set to be joined by Stoke City striker Lee Gregory who has been deemed surplus to requirements at the bet365 Stadium.
They are also working on a move for Rangers’ George Edmundson but that deal hinges on the Light Blues’ attempts to sign Jack Simpson from Bournemouth permanently.
While Derby are bolstering their ranks in an attempt to boost their survival hopes, Swansea City are eyeing a return to the Premier League.
The Swans are unbeaten in eight Championship games and currently sit second, two points clear of the play-offs.
Manager Steve Cooper has already added Jordan Morris, Ben Hamer and Conor Hourihane to his squad this month.
Cooper previously worked with Whittaker while he was in charge of England Under-17s.
In other news, Middlesborough have opened talks to sign a Fulham 25-year-old.
