Mills: £250m summer spending spree may keep Kane at Tottenham after talks update

Danny Mills has insisted Harry Kane will still want to leave Tottenham even if Mauricio Pochettino is re-appointed as manager.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England full-back suggested it would take a £250million summer spending spree to convince Kane to change his mind.

Football Insider broke the news in April that the England captain had told friends he wants to quit Spurs this summer.

That was before Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club days before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

The Athletic report Tottenham are now in talks with Pochettino about a sensational return to north London.

He is said to be keen on a return to the club and the players are excited by the prospect of a reunion.

The Argentine left the club in November 2019 and took over at Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning of this year.

Asked whether Pochettino’s potential return could mean Kane reverses his decision on leaving the club, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “If it’s about winning trophies then, no.

“Not unless they’re given £250million to spend on other players because they really need to re-strengthen. It’s a really big rebuilding project.

“You can’t see that sort of money being spent this summer, certainly not by Tottenham.”

Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in signing Kane who is valued by the Spurs at £150million.

The striker wants to stay in the Premier League as he is just 95 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time division record.

In other news, Tottenham don’t want a big name who started their last five games to play for the club again.
