Tottenham are struggling to find their next manager because of the uncertainty surrounding Harry Kane and Heung-min Son’s future.
That is the view of ex-England international Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ hunt to find a successor to Jose Mourinho.
Football Insider revealed in the wake of Mourinho’s sacking Tottenham had made contact with Julian Nagelsmann but he agreed to join Bayern Munich instead.
Erik ten Hag was linked with the post before agreeing a contract extension with Ajax.
However, he has distanced himself from the position.
“It seems a lot of managers are ruling themselves out of it,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Are we going down the route with Spurs of who will take the job rather than who they really want?
“I’m sure that’s down to the fact we don’t know the situation with Harry Kane and therefore we don’t know the situation with Son.
“Nobody’s got a clue whether there are any finances available to the football club to add to what they already have.
“We’re into a position with them where it’s ‘Who’s good and who will take it?’
“They sacked Pochettino and got Jose Mourinho in. One big name to an even bigger name. There aren’t bigger names out there. They’re not going to get Klopp! Where do they go next?
“They had a project with Pochettino that did fantastically well but didn’t quite like the end result so they canned him. They went the Mourinho route, got to a final and sacked him the week before.
“It’s a big decision for Tottenham and where they go next.”
