Mills hails latest Leeds 'coup' after Firpo update today
Danny Mills has claimed the pull of the Premier League and the promise of regular football has helped Leeds United secure the signing of Junior Firpo.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender insisted the signing of the left-back would represent a “coup” for United.
Football Insider learned on Saturday (3 June) that Firpo was jetting into England to undergo a Leeds medical.
This site revealed on 29 June the Whites had a £12.8million bid accepted for the 24-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano reported today (5 July) that the deal is now “completed and confirmed”.
Firpo is expected to sign a four-year deal with Leeds, who have beaten the likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan to his signature.

He has scored twice and provided three assists in 41 games, including 22 starts, for Barcelona across all competitions in his two-year spell.
Asked for his assessment of Firpo’s potential arrival after the Jack Harrison and Amari Miller deals, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely, it’s another coup.
“The Premier League is all-powerful. It’s not just the wages that they can offer teams but it’s the kudos of being in the Premier League. It will always be attractive.
“He probably believes he’s got a chance of being first-choice, which will be quite important.”
Firpo will be the only senior left-back on Leeds’ books after they confirmed Ezjgan Alioski’s exit earlier today (5 June).
The North Macedonia international has ended his four-year association with the club despite the club offering him a contract extension.
