Mills: Ndombele could now stay at Tottenham after Levy reveal

Danny Mills has claimed there is a “real possibility” of Tanguy Ndombele staying at Tottenham despite the midfielder telling the club he wants to leave.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds and Man City defender suggested a deal would be difficult as club chairman Daniel Levy will “want the biggest price possible” for the 24-year-old.

This site revealed on August 19th that the centre-midfielder has told Spurs chiefs he wants to leave the club by the end of the window.

According to Sky Sports (August 21st), Bayern Munich are interested in a swap deal involving Corentin Tolisso and Ndombele.

Ndombele has been frozen out of the Spurs squad by Nuno Espirito Santo despite being fit to play.

He was not included in the matchday squad for Sunday’s game against Wolves.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley for his assessment of Ndombele’s future, Mills said: “Levy will want the biggest price possible.

“That is never in doubt when he is involved.

“Ndombele is a really interesting one because he divides opinion.

“Jose Mourinho didn’t appear to be a fan and he seemed to ostracised him and single him out at times. There was some harsh treatment during the first and second lockdown.

“But then he became the first name on the team-sheet and was playing in all of the big games.

“He is clearly a player with brilliant ability but it can be frustrating when a player like that doesn’t perform consistently.

“He just needs to keep working hard. If he gets a move he’ll be delighted but if he doesn’t, which is always a real possibility at Spurs, he will have to knuckle down.”
